Autumn 2022

The dairy team have been busy closing the farm in preparation for winter. This is a key stage of the farming year to ensure everything is set for when cows calve and are turned out to grass in February 2023.

During this period cows are dried off at the end of their lactation, winter feeding routines are put in place and all fields are checked, water troughs cleaned and fencing repairs done.

Generally, the autumn has gone well and only recently did the farm turn wet so we have managed to do minimal damage to pastures.

Other than that, the team has been flat out preparing for Christmas the New Year.
