The weather is very dry at the moment which is fantastic but like most farmers we’re never happy, so we could probably do with a bit more rain to help keep the grass growing.
Milk prices have been good this year especially compared to 2016 when the price went down to 18 pence per litre, at the moment we’re receiving 27 pence. We sell our milk to Arla, a European dairy co-operative.
We have recently been working on some changes to the way we run the staffing of the dairy which we implemented from 1 June. It is a radical change to the way we have operated in the past but in order to recruit and retain high quality staff we need to move away from 12 – 13 hour days!
