Winter 2025

sansaw estate christmas trees

An annual Sansaw tradition and one of our favourites is donating Christmas trees, that have been grown on the Estate, to our local churches. Seeing them decorated and all lit up for the period of advent and Christmas transitions us all into the festive spirit!

2025 is drawing to a close, with unpredictable weather patterns where the inconsistency either gives us a frosty covering over the fields or a very wet one!  At Sansaw Estate we are reflecting on the season and the work that keeps our community thriving across each aspect of Estate living.

An annual tradition and one of our favourites is donating Christmas trees, that have been grown on the Estate, to our local churches. Seeing them decorated and all lit up for the period of advent and Christmas transitions us all into the festive spirit!

As you will have seen over the past year, many of our estate houses have been receiving some well‑deserved attention. The refurbishment work carried out is about more than just bricks and mortar — it is about preserving the character of Sansaw while making homes well insulated and ready for the future. From decorating to improved energy efficiency, these updates ensure our houses remain comfortable places for tenants to live.

On the farming side, the cows are now being dried off for the winter. This rest period is essential before calving begins in late January, ensuring the herd is healthy and ready for the busy months ahead. It is  a quiet but vital rhythm of estate life, and we are grateful to the dedicated team for their care and expertise. See our Dairy Diary for more details. (add link)

As Christmas approaches, we find ourselves looking back on the year and thinking of the people who make Sansaw special. From the team at the farm and the dairy, the maintenance crew and all the people and families who call the estate home. Together, we have achieved a lot this year and we look forward to welcoming 2026 with optimism and gratitude.

From all of us at Sansaw Estate, we wish you a Merry Christmas and a joyful New Year.
