As Spring Arrives at Sansaw Estate 2026
We truly are seeing spring in action around the estate. Longer days, warmer light, and the first real signs of the countryside waking up. After a winter that seemed reluctant to let go of its grip, the Sansaw Estate is shifting into its new rhythm full of growth, activity, and optimism.
Signs of spring

Wildflowers are emerging along woodland edges and verges, spot the primroses and early bluebells making their first appearance.
Birdsong is returning in full force, with skylarks, finches, and early migrants filling the mornings. Have you heard the 6am chorus?
Trees and hedgerows are budding, adding that fabulous fresh, bright colour to the landscape.
A wonderful time to be out walking, cycling, or riding across the estate.
Livestock Update: Calving Winds Down & Breeding Preparation Begins

Spring is always a pivotal moment for our livestock teams, and this year is no exception.
Calving season is coming to an end, with the final calves on the ground doing well. Attention now turns to preparing for the breeding season. All the cows are currently undergoing thorough health checks, ensuring they are in the best possible condition before service begins. This includes monitoring body condition, mobility, and overall wellbeing. This is an essential part of the routine for maintaining herd health and supporting strong fertility performance in the months ahead.
While we move livestock around and with increased veterinary visits, we thank you for your patience during this busy transition period.
Property Maintenance, Refurbishment & Renters’ Rights

There is no let up for our property team either! Several houses are undergoing refurbishment as part of Sansaw’s ongoing commitment to maintaining high‑quality homes across the estate.
This includes improvements to interiors, energy efficiency, and long‑term structural care.
These refurbishments ensure that properties remain comfortable, sustainable, and well‑suited to modern living while retaining their character and heritage.
These homes will be coming to the market in the months ahead, and we look forward to sharing more details soon with residents, local families, and those interested in joining the Sansaw community. See social media for updates or visit the Monks website.
We also want to acknowledge the ongoing changes in national housing policy. The estate supports the principles behind the new renters’ rights legislation, which aims to provide clarity, fairness, and security for tenants. We are committed to ensuring that our practices reflect these standards and that all residents feel well‑supported, well‑informed, and treated with respect.
Estate Work for the Season Ahead

A growing sense of regeneration can be felt across Sansaw Estate.
Wildlife habitat monitoring is increasing as species return and breeding begins.
Field preparation and early sowing are underway across our arable land.
Hedgerow and woodland inspections continue following winter weather.
Pathway maintenance is ongoing to keep routes safe and accessible.

Thank you to everyone who lives, works, and spends time at Sansaw. Spring is a reminder of how much life and energy this landscape holds and how much the estate thrives because of the people who care for it.
